Synopsis
Footage found in Amsterdam reveals the horrific events that took place behind the scenes of a sinister film project. The recordings show the disturbing creative process of an obsessive filmmaker in pursuit of absolute control.
What seems like an ordinary day changes abruptly for theater student CIARON (25) into a grim, claustrophobic nightmare when he is unwillingly cast as "Willem" and wakes up in the soundproof basement of a houseboat, cut off from the world. The basement serves as a film studio - the filmmaker's grim domain where there is no room for free will.
Under the watchful eye of an all-seeing camera, Ciaron, together with his co-star and fellow victim RUBEN (25), is forced to live out someone else's script. Those who deviate or disobey are punished.
The filmmaker will bring his masterpiece to life, at any cost. And within that process, there are no boundaries, only his vision. Everything for the perfect film.
